Below are answers to many questions we receive on a daily basis regarding our services. If a question is not answered here please feel free to contact us via our contact page and we will reply as soon as we can.
DO NOT BOOK A SCENE WITH US UNTIL YOU HAVE READ ALL OF THIS SECTION AND WATCHED SOME EXAMPLES!
Q: I’m an actor. How do I know if I need a Speed Scene?
A: Speed Scenes are intended to help bridge the gap between when an actor is first starting out and is in need of footage to showcase their talent to casting directors, but may have had issues getting footage back from those independent and student projects. Some actors use the footage to secure an agent, or to make their Actor’s Access more attractive to casting. Having good footage is a key tool in an actor’s took kit. We work with actors of all skill levels. We also have actors who come to us looking to showcase character types that they don’t typically get auditions for but would like to start. We also offer a career consultation where we will review your current materials and give our professional opinion on what you might need to fill in any gaps you may have! Email us to learn more!
Q: What is the difference in a DEMO REEL and a SPEED SCENE?
A: A demo reel is a 1-2 minute video made up of clips that YOU provide to us from projects you’ve completed in the past. Short films, features, etc. A speed scene is a “scene” that we’ve written and shot for you that is made to look like a legitimate film or tv project. We coined the term “SPEED SCENE” back in 2013 to brand our unique form of custom written demo scenes.
Q: Other services offer IMDB credit as a perk for using them. Why does Atlanta Speed Scenes not offer IMDB credit?
A: IMDB is meant to be a searchable database for film and television productions. Productions add you to their projects when they have released. We do not add our scenes to IMDB.
Q: Can I choose the sets that my scene is shot on?
A: Atlanta Speed Scenes has access to some locations we are able to shoot in at no cost to you. If you’re looking for something specific we recommend checking out a studio like Studio Space Atlanta, that has sets built that can be rented (at an additional cost) by the hour.
Q: I want to write my own scene or bring a scene I or someone else has already written, can I do that?
A: We write the scenes so that we can shoot them quickly and have done a lot of research to write in such a way that it showcases you the best that it can. However, if you want to use a script you’ve written, or otherwise acquired you are free to send it to us for review. We cannot guarantee that we are able to shoot any scene not written by us. Please make sure that you have permission to use any scripts you provide from the author.
Q: I want to walk through a doorway in a blaze of glory carrying guns or some awesome prop! Can I do that?
A: In most cases, no. Our most popular Speed Scene is our basic over the shoulder dialog style scenes. These have minimal movement, and minimal to no props. In our research, this is what casting directors are most interested in seeing because the purpose of this is to show them you can act, and that you look the part. They simply do not have time to watch an extensive scene with lots of action/movement. In most cases, 10-15 secs is all you get to grab them. However, if you wish to do something more advanced, we can do so at an additional cost.
Q: If one scene is $250 and I bring a friend, we each pay $125. Can we do a 3-person scene and each pay $83.33?
A: We limit our scenes to two participants to be able to focus on each actor.
Q: I don’t have a scene partner, do I need one?
A: Yes, but if you don’t know someone from acting class or your agency, or another actor friend who wants to help you we can provide one for you. We do not currently charge an extra fee for this.
Q: Can I bring a makeup artist? Can you provide one for me?
A: You are free to hire a makeup artist should you desire one, but we ask that you arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled call time in order for them to work their magic. We will not have time to wait for full hair and makeup sessions. Touch ups between takes are fine. We usually recommend just coming hair and makeup ready.
Q: I want to get coached before I shoot. Can I do that? Do you Provide that service?
A: You are free to coach with any teacher/coach prior to the day of shooting. We do not allow acting coaches on set, because it tends to eat up too much time and we want to spend our time shooting. We do offer coaching via experienced actor and coach, Carrie Anne Hunt. Inquire when you book. *extra fees
Q: Other services offer Snacks or Craft Services. Do you offer this to your clients?
A: Our scenes usually take 1-2 hours to shoot, so we don’t offer craft services at this time. We may provide a bottle of water on warmer days if we are shooting outdoors, but in most cases you are free to provide your own snacks on set.
Q: Do you work with kids?
A: Heck yeah we do! We love kids! Some of our best little actors are kids and we love to watch them grow!. However, parents.. yeah we’re looking at you. Don’t be a stage parent. Let your kids do their thing and enjoy the process with them. Let us do our job and help them look their best on camera. We promise, we’ll take good care of them. We know you only want what’s best for them, but sometimes that doesn’t correlate to what’s best on camera. We’ve shot 300+ scenes at this point, we know what we’re doing. Let us work our magic! Please only one escort per child.
Q: I shot a Speed Scene with you and I neglected to download my scene can you send it to me again?
A: Yes, but please understand that we only keep scenes for a limited time before they are deleted from our temporary drives.
Q: I want to book one of your services but I hate paying online. Can I pay in person?
A: No, we require payment in full at the time of booking. We use square for credit card payments. but we will also accept Venmo or Zelle. If you wish to pay with one of these services, please contact us to book.
Q: What is your Cancellation policy? Can I reschedule if something comes up?
A: Once you have booked a scene with us, which requires full payment up front, you are eligible to receive a FULL refund at any point until we send you a script. Once a script has been sent, it is no longer possible to receive a full refund. This is due to the number of people we’ve had who cancel just simply because they change their mind. Writing and scheduling these scenes take a lot of work and time on our end, so once that happens, refunds are no longer available. However, if you need to reschedule because you booked a project, have a family emergency, need more time to prepare, or have a medical emergency that’s totally no problem. We are very flexible on scheduling and can reschedule as many times as you need. There are extenuating circumstances where we WILL offer a refund even after we have written a script, but these will include things like, extreme medical emergencies or life changing events that would prevent us from being able to reschedule to a more suitable date and we reserve the right to decide what constitutes an emergency situation that would result in a full refund.
